It appears that Runlimited is slowly being taken over by members of Peckham Pacers... Erin is the third of the Pacers crew to join us here on Cheapside. Swapping the high-altitude climes of the American Rockies for the heights of South London, Erin has found a love for a certain supermarket's porcine sweets, for road running, and for her newfound community across the Atlantic.

In a sentence, tell us about yourself

I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado frolicking around the mountains, which I’ve traded in for laps around Dulwich Park; while I miss home and family, I wouldn’t trade the experience, the community, or the people I’ve made here for the world.

What gets you up in the morning? What’s the first thing you do?

I’m not a morning runner, so it’s usually the V60 coffee my partner makes and leaves for me before he sets off for work everyday. That and probably needing to pee.

What gets you out the door to run?

Percy Pigs Fizzy Tails. My preferred running fuel, it’s gotten to the point where I can only buy and eat them on my runs or else I’d go through 7 bags a week. I don’t think I can move back to the states because we don’t have them there. And in all seriousness, it’s the community that surrounds my running. Whether I’m getting out for my own training or more recently as I haven’t been training for my own race, going out to pace or support my friends in theirs. It’s the people that keep me going.

What excites you about the running community in London?

I moved from Denver to London about two years ago and one of the first, and best, things I did was join my local run club (big love to Peckham Pacers). I met my best friends, my partner (cliché), and even my favourite dog nieces at run club and they’re all local to me because of it. If I hadn’t gone to Pacers, I truly don’t think I’d have made it in London because it can be so lonely here. Whatever someone is looking for in a club, I truly think can be found in this city.

Favourite shoe of all time?

The ASICS Gel Nimbus. I’ve worn them for my last two marathons and haven’t had a single issue with them even after 42k, and my feet are quite fussy, let’s say. I think the man who sold me my first pair called them “the Mercedes Benz” of running shoes and – while it’s slightly cringe – I couldn’t agree more.

Give us some London recs, what should we be checking out?

A slept-on gem down south is Crystal Palace. Make a day of it by going for a run in the park (check out the dinosaurs AND the sphinxes) but be ready for some hills. Hit the market in the centre for some food, then head up Anerley Hill to The Triangle for a coffee at Four Boroughs, wander around the antique shops and ‘Free the Gallery’ which always has something new in it. Finish with a pint at my favorite pub which is The White Hart, look out at the stunning city view, and then eat dinner at The Alma. If Chatsworth Bakehouse is open and the queue isn’t insane, that’s always a fantastic shout as well.
